Well I am planning on creating more products this weekend as well as going to a state park or two with the kids.
I posted the image that I saved from NoSys back in 2006 when I first started on MySpace. I am currently on FIVE social networking sites that I list however a lot more than that actually. I started on MySpace and that is where I found so many kindred spirits who were Creatives, Artisans, Artists, etc. who just wanted a place to let their voice and products be seen/heard. I have actually received quite a few orders via MySpace as well so I use all of the social networking sites as Marketing tools because the way I see it if I didn't do these things how would people know what I do. The Brand is 3 Piece but I am 3 Piece so basically I am the Brand, flaws and all.
I posted the Reggae today because one of the three in my inner circle is Jamaican and every time he throws a party I dance and eat like crazy. Love It!!!
Enjoy,

Memories...

As I was looking through my photo archives for an inspirational photo I found the above photograph taken from April 2006 when I would set up at the Piedmont Park Green Market. I have come so far with this business and still have about 5 journals full of plans for more. However sometimes you have to look back to appreciate from whence you have come. A lot of times I forget how many improvements I have made (check the labels, business cards), how I have refined my product lines (no longer offering oils) and just how much moxie I have to continue to operate and dream.
I posted The Time today because this was my song at the School Dances back in the day. Also the quote by Martin Luther King Jr. is quite appropriate because it is easy to be a stand up person when things are good but what about when controversy rears it's head.
Enjoy,
j

new feature on redesigned 3 Piece website
I wanted to talk about one of the new features I really love about my redesigned website. The search option, woohoo!!! I love it because it now allows customers to search an ingredient in one of the candles without actually knowing the name or if they can't remember the name. A lot of my customers will either email or call me and say "You know the one I like" which I do. However, now they have the option to go to the website and search for lemongrass or frankincense which returns quite a list of available scents for them to choose from.
I posted the Maxwell song today because I think Maxwell is phenomenal. There is a video of his appearance on the Tavis Smiley show where he speaks about his choice to wait so long between releasing albums. If I find the link I will update with it later. It is well documented that I want to go play amongst the clouds and Child Genius takes a mean cloudscape picture.

This is my Prototype...
So I have been using the long weekend to finally jump start the additional products I will offer at 3 Piece. The first of which are handpainted mixed media coasters. This started as something raunchy with Betty and Veronica comics however when I applied the first coat of Polyurethane the ink from the other side bled through so I had to regroup. This first set of four are painted gold with different fortune cookie sayings contained in the handpainted heart.
Also I posted Joi because I FREAKING love her live shows man. I always say to Child Genius and Boy Wonder I am not spending my good money if an artist does not know how to put on a live show, point. blank. period. This woman does not get her just due and I personally think a ton of artists that come through Atlanta tend to bite bits and pieces of her style for their shine. No matter how much music I listen to she always stays in the top 23 of my top 25 on my Ipod.
Child Genius took the photo below as we were driving down MLK home, she loves the clouds, I do too. Also to all my other Veterans (U.S. Air Force 90-95) remember the ones that didn't make it today. Oh that reminds of a story, I was stationed in San Antonio working in Supply Store (that's what you get when you don't have a clue where you are going) and I worked with a Vietnam Vet named Mr. Willie. Well Mr. Willie had been to Vietnam on 3 tours and was not on any medication as he liked to say. Mr. Willie would also have very active flashbacks in the warehouse and I somehow in my uniform reminded him of his fallen comrades EVERY WEEK. I came to love Mr. Willie and also developed a greater compassion for the men I see on the street everyday. You never know what people have gone through to get where they are. Like the Jack Nicholson movie maybe this is "As Good As It Gets" for them.

Inspiration Boards
I am posting a picture of my inspiration board in the 3 Piece lab. I have quite a few quotes posted here along with pictures of people who inspire me. Directly below I have paintings by myself, Child Genius and Boy Wonder. Mine are more mixed media which drives Child Genius absolutely freaking crazy because she is very linear in her thinking and I am most assuredly am not. Boy Wonder on the other hand is a MAMA'S BOY so whatever I do is beautiful to him. I sometimes just stand and look over what is inspiring me and edit every quarter.
Back to Child Genius, Boy Wonder and I, I am a Creative. Child Genius is gifted in the Sciences and Boy Wonder is gifted in Math. It makes for quite interesting conversations at the dinner table. My being a Creative has influenced them in not being so straight and everything by the book however sometimes it does come to a boil for them. At these times is when I typically wish I had a significant other to give them a better balance because I am (I honestly admit) a funny bird. I have mothered and loved myself right along with mothering and raising the two of them.
Anywho I have posted Maze featuring Frankie Beverly because I just love them. The pics Child Genius took were over by the Oakland Cemetery which is where our favorite Mexican restaurant is in the city, Mi Barrio. Boy I love that place and the family that runs it. The quote by Audre Lorde is on point for today. Oh yeah I am now on twitter: @3pieceonline.
Enjoy,

Fresh Cut Grass and Rain
There is nothing in this world like the smell of fresh cut grass and rain on Saturday morning, boy. I am going to take photographs all around the city today for my new product line cannot wait to show you pics of the prototypes. Also Boy Wonder won a trip to Six Flags with the Boys and Girls club from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm (wow). Child Genius and I have a bet going to see if what time he will wake up tomorrow.
I posted Ray Charles because his story pushes me. The quote by Eleanor Roosevelt is right on the money.
Enjoy,

Wait I'm still here!
So I tried to link the blogs and yeah not working right now. Until we are able to work that out I will be posting here live and in living color.
I posted the 1st Madonna album today because I was a fool for Madonna growing up off Candler Rd in Decatur Georgia. I mean I knew every move to the Lucky Star video and BORDERLINE was my cut. You may ask "How did j watch a video in the hood?" Well the answer is simple when MTV first premiered and BET for that matter they were on TBS which was free as long as you had an antenna. MTV introduced me to so much music that I had no idea about Madonna, The Beatles, The Cure, What was that group Simon Lebon was in?, I am getting old dang. So I digress Kanye posted the other day that Lady GaGa is the new Madonna and I started thinking "Why do we always put our artists out to pasture like that?" Last time I checked Madonna was still kicking @$$ and taking names. I am on the fence about the Lady GaGa phenomenon however that could be because I am 37 and not 16 like my daughter but I do love Fall Out Boy which she introduced me to. Anywho there you have it my Madonna obsession has been revealed.
I also posted the pic from the 1930's because I think we need to place our current situation in the proper context. This picture is from a Sharecropper's home in Mississippi and his daughter is preparing for church. What struck me about this photograph is how they put newspaper on the walls for insulation and now there is a design craze about wallpapering your bathrooms with newspaper and text from books. Who knew the sharecropper was ahead of his time.

Well Well Well
First and Foremost here is what I am focusing on today:
Live Your Best Life.
Secondly my blog address is going to change with the new design going up today so please bookmark
www.3pieceonline.com/blog.
I will try to forward this blog so it automatically goes there however I don't know if it will work until after I launch the new site.
Lastly it seems as if I have placed on repeat a favorite of mine: Voyage to India by India.Arie, oh well I love this album and it is my go to whenever I need to pull myself out of the great abyss. Which after watching that trailer for "Precious" this morning I needed more than anything. Please enjoy once again.

New Precious Film Trailer (HQ)
This hits a little close to the white meat however I will have to see it ALONE. I like both of the titles Push and Precious. Life is Hard, Short and Precious, For Real.

Ring the Alarm!!!
We are in the process of uploading the new design and I can barely contain myself. Everything should be up and in place by week's end barring any major catastrophes. I am very excited about this new direction. So enjoy James Brown and the lovely pictures. I have many more but am saving the ones I am taking this week to post when the new look is in place. One more thing the pics that I have posted so far seem to be a lot of clouds however when I am driving it seems to me as if I could just climb up there and take a nap. They always seem so surreal to me.
