Anywho I like abandoned buildings because I always wonder about the story, what happened to this person's dream?

Playing in the Shop this week: Erykah Badu - Window Seat (Official Music Video)

As i anxiously anticipate the release of New Amerykah Return of the Ankh there is brewhaha that has a risen regarding Ms. Badu's choice to bare herself in all her glory in this video. What the ones who cast stones fail to realize is Ms. Badu stated very clearly at the beginning of our journey together that "I am an artist and I am sensitive about my shit" so they are really throwing pebbles at tanker prepared for everything.

It seems that as Black Women we are so quick to condemn any other Black Woman who doesn't conform to what we view they should be whether our house is in order or not. When they tore her down for having 3 kids by 3 different men she responded accordingly by informing said judgementers that " I am a damn good mother to my children". Now how many of those who sit in judgement can say the same because if they could well let's just say we wouldn't have this lovely statistic 50% of all black boys do not graduate from MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!

So let's just sit back and enjoy the music. If you are so inclined to get the message then enjoy that too. I celebrate you Ms. Badu and you inspire me so on 03/30/2010 I will be one of the first in line to buy your next cd.

Love,

I have never known a love like this one, for that alone I am beyond grateful. Thus far he has taught me patience, understanding and self-confidence. He is the most self-confident person I have ever met and he has always been this way. When he was 3 I took him roller skating and put the baby skates on him, I then tried to take him to the baby skating area. He wouldn't have any of it he jumped into the adult skating area and held his own. Once he makes up his mind that he can do something he doesn't care how many times he falls or hurts himself he will learn this thing so he can check it off in his mind. I love THAT about him. However as a parent that is also the scariest thing about him because quite honestly he knows no fear. So my job this go round is to nurture his spirit but temper his fearlessness. Happy Birthday Boy Wonder you are my pride and joy and this next song is for you.

I also have 3 of these old wooden ladders that are paint splattered and not sturdy for standing but I use them for towels in the bathroom, pots in my kitchen and now my herb garden. Any suggestions on more herbs I should plant?

would you like a little onion chives with that

This is part of my herb garden I just planted in old coffee tins spray painted this blue because it is believed that it wards off evil spirits and mosquitoes hate the color. The onion chives, oregano and basil sit on the shelves where I keep my bottles that I am going to cut for candles. This is just a small selection of the bottles, most people think I have a drinking problem what they don't understand is people save their bottles to bring to me.

Playing in the Shop:PHIL COLLINS In The Air Tonight HD

This is tonight's menu...

Yellow Lentils:

1 teaspoon white or black sesame seeds
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 shallot, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 cup yellow lentils, picked over, rinsed and drained
1 1/2 cups vegetable stock, chicken stock or broth
1/2 cup light coconut milk
2 cups baby spinach leaves, stemmed and chopped, or 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (fresh coriander)

Directions
Toast only the white sesame seeds before using. Place the sesame seeds in a small, dry saute or frying pan over medium heat. Cook briefly, shaking the pan often and watching carefully to prevent burning. Remove the seeds from the pan as soon as they begin to turn brown. Set aside.

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shallot, ginger, curry powder and turmeric and cook, stirring, until the spices are fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add the lentils, stock and coconut milk. Raise the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover partially, and simmer until the lentils are tender but still firm, about 12 minutes. The mixture should be brothy; add a little water if needed.

Stir in the spinach, cover and simmer for about 3 minutes longer. The lentils should still hold their shape. Uncover and stir in the salt. Serve hot, garnished with the cilantro and toasted white or untoasted black sesame seeds.
